Richard Hodges, MS (LPC-IT)

Presently, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor – IT and I am continuing my education to earn a doctoral degree in psychology. My plans are to complete my doctoral program next summer. Currently, I have master’s degrees in clinical and counseling psychology and a master’s degree in business administration. Since beginning my studies in psychology, I have worked in two hospitals and two psychotherapy clinics. On a volunteer basis, I oversee twelve-step addiction groups and groups addressing grief. Prior to my career in psychology I was an executive overseeing international and domestic human resources.

At WKM Psychology Clinics, I work with adults, couples, and adolescents dealing with mood issues such as depression and anxiety, trauma, and personality functioning. I also assist clients going through life transitions including moving through various stages of life, career transitions, and chronic illness. My approach to psychology is based on valuing the client and recognizing their role as the “expert” on themselves and a partner in the journey to new insights and new experiences. My orientation is cognitive-behavioral, relational, and existential. In therapy, I consider and incorporate spiritual issues, to the extent the client wishes. By virtue of my doctoral program, I am also trained in the administration and interpretation of a number of psychological instruments. These include assessment of cognitive and personality functioning that is useful for diagnosis, evaluation of learning disabilities, and treatment planning.
