Bill Miller, Ed.D. (LP)

National Register of Health Service Psychologists #35449
As a licensed Psychologist, I have been working with children, adults, and families for several decades. In my general practice of counseling and psychotherapy, I combine a compassionate and humanistic approach to help my clients gain needed insights to make positive changes, recognize challenges and opportunities, and cope with problems and difficulties. Also, develop a better self-understanding to help them lead a more effective and meaningful life. In my work with families, I strive to help parents better understand their children's need for love, understanding, and structure.
I work with individuals, couples, and families with many emotional, behavioral, and spiritual issues and concerns. I strive to maintain a sound therapeutic relationship with my clients and always respect their confidentiality and integrity. In addition to counseling and psychotherapy, I do some limited psychological testing and provide consultation to area physicians and other professionals.
Trained in Colorado with a humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and existential orientation, I utilize insight-oriented psychotherapy to help foster needed changes in my clients' lives. I always aspire to show compassion, understanding respect for my clients' feelings and needs. My goal for each of my clients is to develop a helping relationship with respect and understanding.
Some areas of specialization in my practice include Anxiety and depression, psychological factors affecting physical illness, sexual disorders, grief and loss, parent-child relations, stress-related problems, and stress management issues.
Treatment approaches include Cognitive therapy techniques, stress management, relaxation training and biofeedback, communication and relationship skill building, conflict management, insight-oriented approaches, personal growth, and self-esteem enhancement.
In addition to my clinical work, I was a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for many years until 2014. My work and practice with students and clients has helped me to learn and grow professionally and personally.
